Elite school principal, Paul Browning, ousted from St Paul’s amid ‘toxic clash’ with church

Main Post:

I tried to link the article, but it's courier mail and that is blocked apparently. Here is the first part of the article. It is not behind a paywall so it can be read in full. Channel 9, and the ABC are at the school currently doing reports, but they don't have any articles active yet.

From the article **: The award-winning principal of a prestigious Brisbane school has been sensationally ousted amid allegations of a “toxic clash” with the powerful Anglican Church, including over payment of compensation to historic victims of child sexual abuse.

Paul Browning, headmaster of St Paul’s School in Bald Hills, will finish up on Friday after a “spectacular implosion” of his relationship with Anglican Bishop Jeremy Greaves and the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC), of which he is chair.

The school council – which had unanimously endorsed Dr Browning’s contract renewal for another five years from 2024 – has also been dramatically sacked by the Church. :**

Top Comment: apparently he had a falling out with the Church about refunding the school fees for historical sex abuse victims of the school the school even developed a learning app that it sells to other schools to help fund the refunds, but it seems the Church is not a big fan of doing the right thing the school council got the arse too for supporting him

ST. HELENS HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS ARRESTED ON SEX ABUSE CHARGES

Main Post: ST. HELENS HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS ARRESTED ON SEX ABUSE CHARGES

Top Comment: This is the same high school where a coach was recently arrested after years of coaxing teenagers to come to his house for sex. The most fucked up part about these two arrests is that they were under investigation for two months and yet it was only after they were arrested that either teacher was suspended. Two whole months of the school allowing teachers under investigation for sex crimes to come to class and teach as if nothing was wrong. Having gone to school there I am absolutely not surprised. There is a deep culture of hiding the problem and blaming the victim in St. Helens.

St Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover fired teachers who supported LGBTQ?

Main Post: St Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover fired teachers who supported LGBTQ?

There were four teachers who were told Wednesday that they would not be renewed for next year. Three of the four teachers have taught at STA for 20+ years. They were called into President Marquis office and told the school was “moving in a different direction.” None of these teachers have been disciplined formally (or informally) they were blindsided and shocked. This has rocked the STA community. Could it be for speaking out on behalf of LGBTQ+ students? Perhaps, but there are plenty of teachers left behind who would and have spoken out. This decision was made by the head of the board Jim Broom who uses the Catholic faith as weapon and shield. He is the puppet master, Paul Marquis is the puppet. The diocese has no knowledge of these things prior to it happening. Over the past few years STA has been its own entity with a board of limited jurisdiction that reports to the diocese but with no oversight from the Bishop. Shockingly I think the only that can save this school is the Bishop stepping back in and firing Broom.

These teachers deserve better, the students deserve better.

Also, if you need to see it in the news to believe it. Keep an eye on Channel 5...it’s coming.

I stopped reading newspapers a while ago, and reading a scan of a newspaper is an even worse experience than reading a newspaper. Do you want to make an actual statement here? Or should I fax you a photocopy of a printout of a web site?

Teens forced out of St. Francis High in Mountain View for doing 'blackface' are awarded $1 million after proving it was green acne medication

Main Post: Teens forced out of St. Francis High in Mountain View for doing 'blackface' are awarded $1 million after proving it was green acne medication

Top Comment: Less than four business hours later, Principal Katie Teekell called H.H's parents and said the teen was 'not welcomed back to SFHS.' When the boy's father reiterated that his son had not engaged in blackface, Teekell responded that her decision was not based on 'intent,' but 'optics' and 'the harm done to the St. Francis community'. Teekell said H.H. could choose to 'voluntarily' withdraw, rather than be expelled, with the incident scrubbed from his student record. 'At no time did Ms. Teekell, or anyone else from the SFHS administration, offer to investigate the allegations against the boys, or assist in removing the Photograph in any way,' the lawsuit asserts. A million is letting St. Franitowoc off easy. At least it’s a private school so taxpayers aren’t on the hook.
